South Dakota State Elite Superstar Receives Major Accolades After Anchoring a Jackrabbit

ST. LOUIS — Gus Miller, the center for South Dakota State, has been named the Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week after leading a Jackrabbit offensive line that set several season records in a Hobo Day win last week.

The senior from Brookings achieved a 90 percent grade and logged five pancake blocks as SDSU rushed for an impressive 404 yards in their 63-13 triumph over Youngstown State on October 12. The Jackrabbits accumulated a total of 557 yards of offense and conceded just one tackle for loss, averaging 16.2 yards per rush and 13 yards per play. This rushing total marks the team’s highest since they recorded 446 yards in a 2021 FCS playoff game against UC Davis.

Miller is the second Jackrabbit this week to be honored by the MVFC, joining Angel Johnson, who received the Special Teams Player of the Week award. Additionally, Miller is the second player from SDSU to win the weekly offensive lineman honor in 2024, following Evan Beerntsen’s recognition after the home opener on September 7 against Incarnate Word.

The top-ranked South Dakota State team is set to face No. 2 North Dakota State this Saturday, with kickoff for the annual Dakota Marker game scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Fargodome in Fargo, North Dakota. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2.
