Auburn Basketball Signs Top Transfer, No. 1 Small Forward in Portal

Auburn Tigers head coach Bruce Pearl is already shaping next season’s roster, announcing the addition of UCF forward Keyshawn Hall through the transfer portal.

Hall fills a critical gap for Auburn, which is losing key players like forward/center Johni Broome and forward/center Dylan Cardwell after this season. Chaney Johnson’s eligibility is unlikely to extend, opening up significant spots in the frontcourt. Hall is expected to take over the small forward or big guard position previously held by Johnson.

This marks Hall’s fourth school in as many years. He began at UNLV, where he averaged 5.4 points and 1.6 rebounds per game. His sophomore season at George Mason saw a breakout performance, with Hall averaging 16.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists.

In his junior year, Hall transferred to UCF, where he thrived in the Big 12, leading the conference in scoring with 18.8 points per game. He also averaged 7.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists, earning Second Team All-Big 12 honors and a spot on the Big 12’s All-Newcomer Team.

Bruce Pearl is excited about Hall’s versatility, calling him a “matchup nightmare” for opponents. Pearl emphasized that Auburn offers Hall the best opportunity to cap off his college career with a championship before pursuing a professional career.

“If Hall continues to develop as expected, he could average over 20 points per game, which will be a huge asset to the Tigers as they lose many key contributors from the team that reached the Final Four,” Pearl said.

However, Auburn will still need to bring in more players through the portal or recruiting to fully address the gaps left after this season. But for now, Pearl is focused on the Tigers’ upcoming Final Four appearance, the second in the program’s history. If they defeat the Florida Gators, Auburn will play for its first-ever National Championship against either the Duke Blue Devils or Houston Cougars.
