North Carolina Central’s LeVelle Moton Honored with Prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award and Elite Invites!

LeVelle Moton, head coach of the men’s basketball team at North Carolina Central University, is making a significant impact both on the court and in the community. On October 5th, 2024, he received the prestigious President’s Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing his extensive contributions to basketball and his deep commitment to community service.

Moton joyfully shared the news on X (formerly Twitter), humorously noting, “I got a call last night about a private dinner with VP Harris… She congratulated me on the Lifetime Achievement Award, and then the NCCU vs. Howard banter started… I feel honored to be in a room full of trailblazers.”

His ties to NCCU go back to the ’90s when he excelled as a player for the Eagles. After moving from assistant coach to head coach, Moton became the 17th person to lead the men’s basketball program. By December 2023, he made history as the all-time winningest coach at NCCU with his 252nd victory. Under his leadership, the Eagles have achieved remarkable success, including three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, with a standout 2019 season that earned him the title of Most Outstanding Coach.

The President’s Lifetime Achievement Award, established by former President George H. W. Bush through the Points of Light initiative, goes beyond professional success; it honors individuals for their service and community impact.
