Penn State has landed another standout recruit, continuing its trend of attracting top-tier talent. This latest addition boosts the team’s roster and showcases their successful recruiting approach. The Nittany Lions are clearly building momentum in their pursuit of success on the field.

The program has received a commitment from a safety. Johnson made an official visit to Penn State this summer and had previously taken several unofficial visits. Although he initially committed to Louisville in June, he decided to reopen his recruitment after his recent trip to Penn State.

He expressed gratitude for the Penn State program, stating, “Penn State is all about family and truly looks out for me and my family. They genuinely have my best interests at heart—not just in football, but in all aspects of my life.” Standing at 6 feet 3 inches and weighing 185 pounds, he felt a strong bond with the coaching staff and players, particularly with associate head coach and defensive recruiting coordinator Terry Smith, who played a key role in his recruitment.

He also emphasized Penn State’s strong track record in developing defensive backs, saying, “Penn State is Lockdown U. They currently have one of the best defenses in college football, and their work with defensive backs is noteworthy. I feel a solid connection with the staff at PSU; I talk to several people there every day. I really enjoy the energy on campus.”

Although Johnson had previously committed to Louisville, he was also exploring options at Iowa and Arkansas, planning official visits to both schools.

As a three-star recruit with a rating of 87 from 247Sports, Johnson is ranked No. 90 among cornerbacks in the 2025 class and No. 39 among seniors in Ohio. The 247Sports Composite rankings align closely, positioning him as the No. 83 cornerback nationally and the No. 37 senior in Ohio.

Penn State is targeting Johnson as a cornerback, but his size and skill set may allow for a switch to safety if necessary, adding flexibility to their secondary. With a robust recruiting class, especially at cornerback, Johnson will be joining top recruits like Daryus Dixson, Jahmir Joseph, and Xxavier Thomas, along with safety Braswell Thomas. Given the depth of this class and the returning players, he is expected to take some time to develop before making significant contributions on the field.
