Since stumbling in Week 1 against Georgia, the Clemson Tigers have been dominating and are now in a favorable position in the rankings.
According to ESPN College GameDay analysts like Nick Saban, Pat McAfee, and Rece Davis, the No. 10 ranked Clemson Tigers have a weak 2024 schedule. However, this hasn’t hindered their continued dominance.
No matter what opinions you have about Clemson’s schedule after their disappointing 34-3 defeat to Georgia in the first game of the season, the Tigers have rebounded and appear to be a whole new team.
Even though he hasn’t completed a full game this season since Georgia, Cade Klubnik is still one of the top quarterbacks in the country based on statistics and is rapidly moving up as a potential Heisman candidate. The Tigers have a variety of playmakers, such as Antonio Williams, Jake Briningstool, freshman Bryant Wesco, freshman T.J. Moore, and Troy Stellato, while Phil Mafah remains reliable.
Clemson maintained its strong performance on Saturday with a 48-31 victory over Virginia in Death Valley, and the margin of victory could have been greater. Following a slow first half, Clemson seized full dominance in the third quarter and maintained their lead.
The Tigers definitely have some uncertainties. Could Cade Klubnik replicate these statistics against a top-tier defense? Can the Clemson defense, which has shown periods of excellence and moments of confusion, keep getting better?
Clemson will have a bye week before facing Louisville at home and then playing away games against Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh to finish out its ACC schedule. Both Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh may likely be ranked during those games, enhancing Clemson’s schedule.
ESPN quickly highlights Clemson’s schedule ranking (53), but conveniently overlooks Tennessee (62) and Notre Dame (55) who also have lower rankings but are not criticized.
The Tigers are wondering what could happen in December.
Clemson appears to be headed towards a matchup with Miami in the ACC Championship. The Tigers hold a perfect 5-0 record in their conference, while the Hurricanes boast a flawless 3-0 record in the ACC. There is plenty of football still ahead, but it will be intriguing to witness Clemson’s progress and visualize a meeting between them and the Hurricanes in Charlotte later in December.
In the end, it’s not important at the moment because there is still a lot of this season remaining for us to think ahead.
