South Carolina Loses 4-Star Commit Peyton Dyer: Is USC Poised to Land the Talented Cornerback?
Class of 2026 four-star cornerback Peyton Dyer has reopened his recruitment after decommitting from South Carolina earlier this week. Dyer, who had been committed to the Gamecocks since November 2024, is now back on the market—and the USC Trojans are firmly in the mix.
Under head coach Lincoln Riley, USC has been actively pursuing Dyer, and his recent decision has given the Trojans a renewed shot at flipping the standout prospect. However, USC will face stiff competition, as both Ohio State and Georgia are also in strong contention.
Peyton Dyer’s Upcoming Visits
Dyer, a 6-foot, 190-pound cornerback from Duluth, Georgia, is rated as a four-star recruit and the No. 27 corner in the 2026 class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He has official visits scheduled this June to USC, Georgia, and a return trip to South Carolina.
On3 national scout Cody Bellaire praised Dyer’s playmaking ability, noting:
“Peyton Dyer is a menace when the football is in the air, and he showed that as a junior… He broke up 12 passes and recorded an interception this past season. He’s got great size for a cornerback and excellent ball skills.”
Dyer already made a visit to Georgia earlier this year and shared positive feedback with On3’s Chad Simmons:
“I had a great time at Georgia. I met with Coach (Kirby) Smart… We went over film and had a great conversation. Georgia is definitely one of my top schools, and I’ll be taking an official visit there.”
With official visits coming up and interest from top-tier programs heating up, Peyton Dyer’s recruitment is one to watch—especially for USC fans hoping he ends up in Cardinal and Gold.
