Fleck, Coach of the Gophers, Provides a Preview of the Upcoming Homecoming Game Against Maryland this Saturday.
The Gophers will welcome Maryland for Homecoming on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The Gophers have a 2-2 record in Big Ten games, whereas Maryland has a 1-3 record. The Terrapins recently won against USC.
Fleck was questioned about Koi Perich, the standout freshman safety who was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Minnesota’s 21-17 victory over UCLA.
Perich tallied two interceptions and two tackles in the victorious game.
I believe he’s having a significant influence; as I have mentioned previously, we had a talented true freshmen named (WR) Corey Davis at Western Michigan. “He was selected as the fifth overall pick and played in his first year,” Fleck stated.
However, discussing the impact he’s having on defense and special teams as a true freshman who arrived in June is difficult. I believe it’s an important lesson for everyone who has insisted on the need for an earlier start. I am arriving early so that I can play, which is accurate. I would have been happy to see his progress if you had arrived in January, as that would have given you a six-month lead, but keep in mind that he actually came in June. He hasn’t even experienced the off-season strength program, but that reflects positively on him. This reflects well on Danny Collins and his coach.
KSTP Sports has received information that the Vikings, Bills, Giants, and Cowboys are sending scouts to Saturday’s game.
