Recruitment Update: Ohio Tight End A 6-5, 230-pounder Recruit Elite Decommits From Gophers
Cross Nimmo, a tight end from Lake Catholic High School in Mentor, Ohio, who verbally committed to the Gophers in April, announced on Thursday that he has decided to withdraw his commitment and reopen his recruitment.
Nimmo, a three-star recruit, shared a statement on the X platform: “After careful consideration and discussions with my family, I have made the decision to decommit from the University of Minnesota. This choice was not made lightly, as I have great respect for the Minnesota coaching staff and team. However, I am now fully reopening my recruitment.”
Standing 6’5″ and weighing 230 pounds, Nimmo is ranked 41st among 2025 recruits in Ohio and 48th nationally among tight ends, according to the 247Sports composite ratings. He has received scholarship offers from 12 other schools, including Big Ten programs Illinois and Rutgers.
In eight games this season, Nimmo tallied 24 receptions for 433 yards and three touchdowns.
Nimmo’s decommitment leaves the Gophers with 22 high school players still committed to their 2025 recruiting class.
