Brosmer and Perich Aknowledged as Gophers Prepare for Illini

Quarterback Max Brosmer and safety Koi Perich from Esko are being acknowledged for their contributions in Minnesota’s 48-23 victory against Maryland.

Brosmer earned the title of Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, while Perich was named Freshman of the Week. Max passed for 320 yards and four touchdowns, his highest of the season, against the Terrapins. Perich got his fifth interception of the season during Saturday’s game, and his 45-yard return set up a field goal.

The Golden Gopher football team will aim for its fourth consecutive victory as it travels to face the 24th-ranked Illinois team on Saturday.

Minnesota defeated Maryland with a 48-23 victory during their homecoming game last Saturday, improving their overall record to 5-3 and Big Ten record to 3-2. The Fighting Illini have a record of 6-2 overall and 3-2 in the league following a 38-9 loss to top-ranked Oregon on Saturday. Illinois has emerged victorious in the most recent three games in the series, which includes an unlikely 27-26 win in Minneapolis during the previous season.

The Golden Gophers are currently ahead in the all-time series with a record of 40 wins, 33 losses, and 3 ties. The game on Saturday will begin at 11 A-M at Memorial Stadium in Champaign, Illinois.
