Texas A&M Aggies Host FCS Freshman All-America Linebacker for Visit
While the Texas A&M Aggies have remained quiet in the spring transfer portal so far, they’re still actively exploring potential additions to their roster.
According to a report from 247Sports’ Allen Trieu, the Aggies hosted Missouri State linebacker Michael Teason for a visit on Tuesday. Teason, a rising redshirt sophomore, is coming off a standout season with the Bears, earning second-team FCS Freshman All-America honors from Phil Steele.
Standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 215 pounds, Teason had a strong showing in 2023, recording 51 tackles, seven tackles for loss, one sack, and two fumble recoveries. He played in all 12 games for Missouri State, starting four at linebacker. This productive season came after a redshirt year in which he played only four games as a freshman.
While the Aggies’ inside linebacker depth, featuring Taurean York and Scooby Williams, isn’t an immediate concern, the team may still pursue Teason if both sides see a fit. Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko emphasized in his final spring press conference that the team isn’t simply looking to add players for the sake of filling roster spots.
“The biggest thing is adding value. Adding just to add is never a good sign,” Elko stated. “I don’t think we’ll add to add, but in this day and age, you have to constantly be looking for value that can improve your program.”
