Cleveland Cavaliers Star Calls Out Miami Heat’s Tyler Herro After Game 2 Victory

Darius Garland and the Cleveland Cavaliers came out on top against the Miami Heat in Game 2. Following the win, Garland was asked about the key to playing clean basketball against a team like the Heat.

Garland didn’t hold back with his response.

“Attack Tyler Herro and take care of the ball. Avoid tight spaces and target their weak defenders,” he said.

With that remark, a rivalry seemed to spark between Garland and Heat guard Tyler Herro. It’s no surprise that Cleveland has made Herro a focal point on offense.

In Game 1, a hot mic caught Heat teammate Bam Adebayo calling out Herro during a timeout, noting that the Cavaliers were deliberately attacking him.

While Herro had an impressive offensive showing in Game 2, scoring 33 points on 14-of-24 shooting, his plus/minus was just +1. Whenever he was on the floor, the Cavaliers found success attacking him, especially in key moments.

For the second straight game, Cleveland’s backcourt led the way to victory. Donovan Mitchell dropped 30 points, including 17 in the fourth quarter, while Garland contributed 21 points and nine assists, with just one turnover.

The Cavaliers’ guard duo proved to be the difference in a game that shifted from a blowout to a nailbiter in the final six minutes of the fourth quarter.

As the series moves to Miami, Cleveland’s backcourt will need to maintain their strong play. Meanwhile, Erik Spoelstra and the Heat have likely identified a weakness in the Cavs’ game that they’ll look to exploit.

For Cleveland, the key will be recognizing that weakness and continuing to capitalize on what’s working well—such as their low turnover rate, which is partly due to their aggressive targeting of Tyler Herro.
