The North Carolina Tar Heels are going back to the drawing board following a disappointing end to their college basketball season.
UNC had an inconsistent season, struggling to establish a stable performance. Their campaign concluded in the NCAA Tournament, where they were eliminated by Ole Miss in the first round.
The team was supported by a skilled roster that included Drake Powell, RJ Davis, and Elliot Cadeau. However, each of these players will not return next season. Powell and Davis are currently exploring options in the NBA draft, while Cadeau has decided to transfer to Michigan after spending two seasons in Chapel Hill.
Despite these departures, head coach Hubert Davis and his staff secured a significant commitment on Friday, as Virginia Tech transfer Jaydon Young is set to join North Carolina.
Young spent the past two seasons with the Hokies.
During his last season at Virginia Tech, he averaged 8.1 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. Over his two years with the Hokies, Young has averaged 5.3 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game.
Young initially pledged to the Virginia Tech Hokies as a three-star recruit, rated as the 31st shooting guard and the 231st overall player in the country according to 247Sports.
Prior to his commitment to Virginia Tech after high school, Young received offers from several schools, including Appalachian State, East Tennessee State, Elon, Charlotte, and others.
Now, he is heading to North Carolina to join one of the top programs in college basketball.
