JB Brown Joins Denver Broncos as Undrafted Free Agent
Kansas Jayhawks linebacker JB Brown has signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent, following the NFL Draft on Saturday. Despite a lackluster season for the Kansas defense overall, Brown stood out as a standout player.
In his senior year, Brown had a career-best performance, earning the opportunity to join the Broncos. He led the Jayhawks’ defense with 74 total tackles, 52 solo tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, and five quarterback hits, while also ranking third on the team with five sacks. In his junior season, after transferring from Bowling Green, he posted 57 tackles and two sacks—a solid showing for a player moving from the MAC to the Big 12.
While Brown might be a bit lighter than the typical inside linebacker, his speed and ability to rush the passer make him a valuable asset, especially in blitz packages. Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph could utilize Brown in various roles, and we can expect him to showcase his versatility in the preseason.

The Broncos’ defense was one of the top units in the league last year and boasts impressive depth, so Brown will face stiff competition to secure a spot on the team or even the practice squad. To make the roster, he’ll likely need to excel on special teams. However, if he doesn’t make the cut in Denver, it’s likely another NFL team will give him an opportunity.
