Wildcats broke the ice with 2:51 to go left in the third quarter on a Avery Johnson 10-yard run but missed the two-point conversion.

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) – The Wildcats faced a tough game against the Sun Devils, suffering their second consecutive loss, 24-14.

Kansas State fell behind early, trailing 14-0 after two touchdowns by Jordyn Tyson—an 11-yard score in the first quarter following an interception by Avery Johnson, and a 30-yard touchdown just 40 seconds into the second quarter.

Arizona State extended its lead to 21-0 with a 16-yard touchdown from Chamon Metayer about four minutes after Tyson’s second touchdown. At halftime, the score remained 21-0, with Kansas State managing only 108 yards of offense in the first half.

The Wildcats finally got on the scoreboard with 2:51 left in the third quarter when Avery Johnson ran for a 10-yard touchdown, though they failed to convert the two-point attempt. In the fourth quarter, Joe Jackson added a four-yard rushing touchdown and the team successfully converted the two-point try, making it 24-14.

Kansas State had a chance to narrow the gap further, but Chris Tennant missed his second field goal attempt of the night due to a botched snap that caused the kick to veer right.

The Wildcats had two turnovers and controlled the ball for only 23 minutes during the game. Avery Johnson completed 24 of 40 passes for 258 yards and two interceptions, and added 21 rushing yards. DJ Giddens led the ground game with 133 yards on 14 carries, while Dante Cephas topped the receiving corps with 65 yards.

With a record of 7-3, Kansas State will host Cincinnati in their final home game of the season on November 23.
