Suspended Alabama LB Keanu Koht to Enter Transfer Portal
Suspended Alabama linebacker Keanu Koht has reportedly filed paperwork to enter the NCAA transfer portal, signaling he will not be returning to the team.
Koht, a redshirt junior, did not travel with the team for their game against LSU and was subsequently suspended for the Mercer game, a decision announced by head coach Kalen DeBoer. The reason for the suspension and a specific timeline for Koht’s return were not provided.
Now, it appears Koht has decided to leave Alabama and pursue a new opportunity for the 2025 season by entering the transfer portal.
Koht’s departure comes after Alabama lost linebacker Que Robinson to a season-ending injury, leaving the team thin at the Wolf position. Depth behind starter Qua Russaw is now a concern, with little experienced talent available.
Though Koht hadn’t made a significant impact on the field during his time at Alabama, he was a seasoned player capable of providing quality snaps. With both Koht leaving and Robinson injured, Russaw will likely see an increased workload, and younger players like Yhonzae Pierre will be asked to step up in roles they may not be fully prepared for.
