The Carolina Hurricanes are expected to be active as they look to strengthen their roster for a playoff push. Carolina’s top priorities appear to be adding a high-impact scorer and finding a reliable backup netminder to ease the workload on current No. 1 option Brandon Bussi.
One notable report making waves this week suggests the St. Louis Blues are prepared to part ways with goaltender Jordan Binnington. If available, Binnington would instantly become one of the most intriguing goaltending options on the market.
Why a Binnington Deal Fits Carolina
If St. Louis is indeed ready to move Binnington, he’d likely land with a contender — placing Carolina squarely in the conversation.
The Hurricanes currently rely on Brandon Bussi and Freddie Andersen in net, but Andersen’s recent inconsistency raises concerns. Given how critical steady goaltending is in the postseason, this could be the moment for Carolina to make an aggressive move and acquire a veteran like Binnington.
Binnington’s 2025–26 numbers (31 starts, 8-18-6 record, 3.60 GAA, .867 save percentage) don’t jump off the page. However, the Blues have struggled overall, sitting near the bottom of the Central Division. A change of scenery could benefit both the player and the franchise.
