Alabama Ramping Up Pursuit of Explosive Ole Miss Target

Alabama Eyes Top Ole Miss Football Target Zaiden Jernigan

The recruitment of Louisville (Miss.) five-star running back Zaiden Jernigan has heated up, drawing attention from elite programs nationwide after a dominant sophomore season.

Jernigan, the No. 1 running back in the 2028 Recruiting Cycle, has already received offers from Ole Miss Rebels, Alabama Crimson Tide, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and California Bears, among others.

The 5-foot-10, 195-pound standout has been a priority for Ole Miss head coach Pete Golding and the Rebels, who are working to maintain momentum in his recruitment. However, Alabama is making a push as well after Jernigan attended the Crimson Tide’s first spring practice last week. He praised the experience, noting, “I loved it, I had a good time there,” and highlighted the quality of coaching and running back drills.

Jernigan made a name for himself early, surpassing 2,000 scrimmage yards and 30 touchdowns as a freshman in 2024. His sophomore season in 2025 was equally impressive, totaling 1,563 rushing yards, 20 touchdowns, and additional contributions as a receiver and kick returner.

Ole Miss hosted Jernigan last fall for an unofficial visit to Oxford during the SEC matchup against LSU, with running backs coach Frank Wilson working to keep the Rebels competitive as the top recruit prepares for a critical offseason in the 2028 cycle.
