Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Breaks Wilt Chamberlain’s Historic Scoring Streak
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander made NBA history by surpassing Wilt Chamberlain’s long-standing scoring record, recording 127 consecutive games with at least 20 points for the Oklahoma City Thunder. The previous mark of 126 had stood for 63 years.
Earlier in the week, Gilgeous-Alexander boosted his MVP case with a dominant performance against the Denver Nuggets, posting 35 points, nine rebounds, and 15 assists without a turnover—a stat line previously achieved only by LeBron James.
He officially broke the record during a nationally televised game against the Boston Celtics. After scoring 17 points in the first half, he reached the milestone in the third quarter with a signature mid-range jumper.
The historic streak highlights Gilgeous-Alexander’s remarkable consistency, placing him alongside Chamberlain as the only players to reach such a scoring run.
Jaylen Brown drew attention after criticizing Gilgeous-Alexander’s foul-drawing style. A courtside microphone caught Brown shouting “That’s not basketball!” following another foul call.
Brown has previously voiced similar concerns about what he sees as foul-baiting and inconsistent officiating. His frustration later escalated when he argued with referee Tyler Ford and received two technical fouls, leading to an automatic ejection.
After the incident, Brown posted on X expressing his frustration, and reports suggest the NBA—led by commissioner Adam Silver—could issue a fine. Meanwhile, the Celtics look to regroup following back-to-back losses.
