Auburn Tigers News: AU Lands “KEY” Late Transfer, RB Commit Is Recruiting These Prospects

In today’s edition of Auburn Tigers News, Auburn football picks up a late transfer and a running back commit is recruiting others to join him on the Plains.

During the weekend, the Auburn football team welcomed defensive back transfer Jahquez Robinson. A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Robinson commenced his college journey at Alabama, where he spent three seasons prior to transferring to Colorado before last season.

Upon graduating from high school, Robinson was a highly-rated 4-star prospect, holding the #21 ranking among cornerbacks in the 2020 recruiting class. He was initially recruited to Tuscaloosa by then-associate defensive coordinator Charles Kelly, whom Robinson subsequently followed to Colorado. Now, Robinson is set to play for Kelly in Auburn, donning the orange and blue uniform of the Tigers.

In the 2023 season with Colorado, Robinson amassed eight tackles and secured one interception. With two years of eligibility remaining, he joins the Tigers primarily to provide depth, especially following significant losses in the secondary.

Running back commit recruiting others to join him on the Plains

The Tigers also secured a commitment from 4-star running back Alvin Henderson over the weekend. Henderson, a long-time target for Auburn football, had initially committed to Penn State back in April but acknowledged that head coach Hugh Freeze and the Tigers remained persistent in their recruitment efforts.

Henderson expressed that the Tigers’ relentless pursuit meant a lot to him, and he feels relieved to have his recruitment concluded. Now, he’s focused on attracting more top-tier talent to Auburn, according to Auburn Undercover. His targets include defensive backs Blake Woodby and Anquon Fegans, as well as Elijah Menendez, a 4-star linebacker currently committed to Miami.

Regarding his top targets, Henderson mentioned, “I was Miami’s No. 1 recruit for a minute. I was able to bond with him when I was considering them. . . There are a few dudes. We in-state dudes are going to take care of Auburn ourselves. Our main goal is going out and getting guys who are committed or considering other schools.”

The Tigers’ 2025 recruiting class now consists of 16 commits and is ranked #5 overall by 247 Sports.
