The Tennessee Volunteers football are emerging as a serious contender to flip a commitment from the Alabama Crimson Tide football.
2027 three-star cornerback Nash Johnson has been pledged to Alabama since October, but he has remained in contact with other programs — including Tennessee.
After visiting Knoxville this week, Johnson told On3 he remains strongly interested in the Vols.
“I’m still highly interested in Tennessee,” Johnson said following his trip to Rocky Top. “I really liked the energy and the overall vibe from the coaches. Tennessee has always been a program I’ve kept an eye on. It’s a great place and definitely high on my list.”
On3’s Chad Simmons reported that Johnson is “trending away” from Alabama and may not ultimately land in Tuscaloosa, while also identifying Tennessee as a major player in his recruitment.
The 6-foot, 170-pound defensive back from Powder Springs, Georgia, is ranked by 247Sports Composite as the No. 66 cornerback nationally and the No. 72 prospect in the state.
Other programs, including Auburn Tigers football, Miami Hurricanes football, and Ole Miss Rebels football, are also involved.
Johnson is expected to return to Tennessee for an official visit on June 12.
