Arizona State’s Marcus Adams Jr. Intends to Enter Transfer Portal

Marcus Adams Jr. is expected to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal after spending the 2025–26 season with the Arizona State Sun Devils men’s basketball.

Adams appeared in 14 games for Arizona State, averaging 3.6 points and 2.4 rebounds in just under 12 minutes per contest. He shot 34.1% from the field and 29.6% from three-point range. His season was cut short after his last appearance on Jan. 3 due to a reported leg injury that sidelined him for the remainder of the year.

Before joining Arizona State, Adams began his college career at BYU Cougars men’s basketball, where he played one game and took a redshirt year. He later transferred to Cal State Northridge Matadors men’s basketball, where he broke out during his redshirt freshman season.

At CSUN, Adams averaged 16.1 points and 4.9 rebounds per game while shooting 52.6% from the field and 39.5% from beyond the arc. His performance earned him All-Big West Second-Team honors.

Coming out of Nathaniel Narbonne High School, Adams was a four-star recruit, ranked No. 65 overall and No. 14 among small forwards in the 2023 class, according to Rivals.

Adams may not be the only Sun Devil to explore transfer options, as the program is undergoing significant changes following the dismissal of head coach Bobby Hurley. Hurley spent over a decade leading Arizona State, compiling a 185-167 overall record and guiding the team to three NCAA Tournament appearances.

The Sun Devils struggled this past season, finishing 7-11 in Big 12 play and missing the NCAA Tournament for the third straight year. After the university chose not to renew Hurley’s contract, he shared a message expressing gratitude for his time with the program, highlighting the relationships, memories, and experiences built during his tenure.

The NCAA Transfer Portal window for men’s basketball is scheduled to open on April 7 and close on April 21 under the current 15-day structure. Players entering the portal are not required to commit to a new school before the deadline.
