Bears Honor Seniors With Season-High Performance in Home Finale
The California Golden Bears men’s gymnastics delivered one of their strongest performances of the season on senior night, posting their second-highest score of 2026 in a home meet against top-ranked Oklahoma Sooners men’s gymnastics at Haas Pavilion.
Competing in their final regular-season home meet, seniors Khalen Curry, Theodor Roald Gadderud, Jasper Smith-Gordon, and Kaien Orion played key roles in the team’s success. Their efforts helped Cal secure two event titles and build momentum heading into the MPSF Championships.
California finished with a score of 315.100—more than three points above its season average—while Oklahoma totaled 325.250 to win the meet.
The Bears excelled on floor exercise for the second straight week, matching Oklahoma with a score of 53.650. Strong routines from Curry and Matteo Bardana, both of whom stuck their landings, highlighted the rotation. Bardana earned a 13.700 for second place, while Roald Gadderud followed closely with a 13.650, marking his best performance with Cal under the current scoring system.
On pommel horse, Orion led the way with a 13.400, one of his top scores of the season. The rings rotation saw solid efforts as well, including matching 13.100 scores from Nathan Underhill and Roald Gadderud, while Jaxon Mitchell led the group with a 13.250.
Vault proved to be a standout event for California, as the team surpassed 56 points for the second time this year with a 56.300 total. Smith-Gordon claimed first place with a 14.250, while Underhill (14.200) and Roald Gadderud (14.050) rounded out the top three finishes.
Tucker Yasunaga delivered a strong opening routine on parallel bars, scoring a 13.600 to place third, and later tied for third on high bar alongside Troy Nuesca, both posting 12.750.
Overall, the Bears showed strong form across multiple events, signaling positive momentum as they prepare for the upcoming conference championship meet.
California will return to Haas Pavilion on April 4 to host the MPSF Championships, where they will face Oklahoma, Stanford, and Air Force.
