South Carolina Forward Jordan Butler Joins Transfer Portal
South Carolina basketball forward Jordan Butler has announced his decision to enter the transfer portal, becoming the second Gamecock to do so on Monday, following guard Eli Ellis.
The 7-foot Butler, a native of Greenville, South Carolina, joined the Gamecocks before the 2024-2025 season after spending his freshman year at Missouri. Over the last two seasons, he played in 53 games, starting 4, and set career highs in points per game (2.8), field goal percentage (.477), and free throw percentage (.774) this past season.
Butler was a highly rated recruit out of high school, ranked 90th nationally and second in South Carolina.
Roster Overhaul in Progress
Butler’s transfer marks the third Gamecock player to enter the portal, joining forward Elijah Strong and guard Eli Ellis as players seeking new opportunities in 2026. As Lamont Paris enters his fifth year as head coach, South Carolina’s basketball program appears to be undergoing significant changes, both in its roster and coaching staff.
The Gamecocks will also lose three of their top four scorers from this season—Meechie Johnson Jr., Kobe Knox, and Mike Sharavjamts—who have all exhausted their eligibility. With these departures, the team is expected to be active in the transfer portal this offseason.
