Georgia Defenders React to New Linebackers Coach Larry Knight
Georgia Bulldogs defensive players are already sharing early impressions of new outside linebackers coach Larry Knight as the team works through spring camp ahead of the 2026 season.
With their sights set on a return to the top after falling short in recent College Football Playoff runs, Georgia has made several offseason changes—none more notable on the coaching side than the addition of Knight. He’s expected to help revitalize the Bulldogs’ pass rush after the team finished last in the SEC in sacks during the 2025 season.
As practices get underway, players have begun to weigh in on what it’s like working with their new position coach. During a recent media session, linebackers highlighted Knight’s attention to detail and coaching style.
Quintavius Johnson noted that Knight emphasizes technique and discipline both on and off the field, adding that the group is currently focused on improving run defense before fully diving into pass-rush responsibilities.
Justin Williams echoed that sentiment, describing Knight as someone who challenges players mentally while also bringing energy and personality to the group. He praised the hire, calling Knight a strong addition and crediting head coach Kirby Smart for bringing him in.
While it’s still early in the offseason, the positive feedback from players suggests Knight could play a key role in improving Georgia’s defense this year. The Bulldogs will continue spring practices leading up to their annual G-Day scrimmage on April 18 at Sanford Stadium.
