UNC Basketball Coach Receives Big Recruiting Opportunity

Fifth-year UNC basketball leader Hubert Davis will soon spend time on the same court as some of his prime targets.

UNC head coach Hubert Davis will soon head west to Colorado, where he’ll have a valuable opportunity to bolster the Tar Heels’ 2026 recruiting efforts. Davis has been chosen as one of three court coaches for the 2025 USA Basketball Men’s U19 National Team training camp, which kicks off June 14 in Colorado Springs.

The prestigious camp will feature several top 2026 recruits who are already on UNC’s radar.

Among them are early Tar Heel targets: five-star guard Cameron Holmes from Millennium High School (Ariz.), five-star guard Caleb Holt from Grayson High School (Ga.), five-star guard Deron Rippey Jr. out of Blair Academy (N.J.), and five-star guard Taylen Kinney from Overtime Elite (Ga.).

Joining Hubert Davis as court coaches for the 2025 USA Basketball Men’s U19 National Team training camp are Alabama’s Nate Oats and Kentucky’s Mark Pope. The trio will assist head coach Tommy Lloyd of Arizona, along with summer assistants Grant McCasland (Texas Tech) and Micah Shrewsberry (Notre Dame), as they get the team ready for the 2025 FIBA U19 Men’s World Cup in Switzerland.
