Oregon Building Momentum With Top Offensive Line Target
The Oregon Ducks football are gaining traction in their pursuit of another standout offensive lineman in the 2027 recruiting class.
Head coach Dan Lanning and offensive line coach A’lique Terry have continued to prioritize the trenches, already securing two offensive line commitments for 2027—with the potential for more to follow. One key target still on their radar is three-star lineman Lex Mailangi, who is scheduled to visit Eugene in June.
Ducks Making Strong Impression
Oregon was among the first programs to offer Mailangi back in June 2024, and that early interest may prove valuable. The Ducks have worked to build a strong relationship with the recruit, something Mailangi has openly acknowledged in interviews.
Ranked as the No. 45 interior offensive lineman in the 2027 class by 247Sports, Mailangi could fill an important need. Oregon’s current commits—Avery Michael and Drew Fielder—project as tackles, so adding an interior presence would help balance the class.
Recruitment Heating Up
Mailangi has locked in an official visit to Oregon from June 19–21, marking the first trip he scheduled—an encouraging sign for the Ducks. However, his recruitment is becoming increasingly competitive.
The Mater Dei High School standout recently showcased his skills at the Polynesian Bowl, boosting his profile among top 2027 prospects.
In addition to Oregon, Mailangi has official visits planned with the UCLA Bruins football, California Golden Bears football, and SMU Mustangs football, rounding out a competitive list of suitors.
Future Outlook Along the Offensive Line
Oregon’s offensive line has seen constant turnover during Lanning’s tenure, yet the unit has remained among the nation’s best—earning Joe Moore Award finalist honors in three consecutive seasons.
More changes are expected after 2026, with veterans like Iapani “Poncho” Lalaolu and Dave Iuli set to exhaust their eligibility. Michael Bennett could factor into the lineup but is also nearing the end of his college career.
That turnover opens the door for younger talent. Highly touted 2026 five-star Immanuel Iheanacho could even compete for a starting role as a freshman.
Oregon continues to sell recruits on development and a clear path to the NFL. If Mailangi ultimately commits, he would further strengthen the Ducks’ depth and long-term outlook in the trenches.
