Rick Barnes and the Tennessee Volunteers men’s basketball have added their first transfer of the cycle, landing a commitment from former Belmont Bruins men’s basketball guard Tyler Lundblade, who made the announcement Wednesday on social media.
Lundblade is coming off a breakout season at Belmont, earning MVC Player of the Year honors after putting up 15.6 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists across 32 games. He established himself as one of the nation’s top shooters, knocking down 40.6% of his three-point attempts on high volume (8.8 per game) while also converting 93.4% from the free-throw line.
A native of Dallas, Texas, Lundblade began his college career with the SMU Mustangs men’s basketball, where he redshirted before transferring to the TCU Horned Frogs men’s basketball. He spent two seasons there in a limited role before making the move to Belmont ahead of the 2024–25 campaign, where he quickly emerged as a key contributor, averaging 12.4 points while shooting an impressive 48.1% from beyond the arc.
He now heads to Tennessee with one year of eligibility remaining, giving the Vols a major boost as they look to reload following their Elite Eight loss to the Michigan Wolverines men’s basketball.
Ranked as the No. 17 overall player and No. 3 shooting guard in the transfer portal by 247Sports, Lundblade is expected to play a significant role in Tennessee’s offense next season as the program works to replace key contributors like Ja’Kobi Gillespie and potentially Nate Ament, who is projected to enter the NBA Draft.
