Cubs GM shares worrying update on Cade Horton injury
The Chicago Cubs could be facing troubling news regarding their pitching staff after general manager Carter Hawkins provided a concerning update on young right-hander Cade Horton.
The team has already been hit with pitching issues, including Matthew Boyd landing on the injured list with a bicep strain. However, the bigger concern surrounds Horton, who was pulled from his start over the weekend and later placed on the IL due to right forearm discomfort.

Losing Horton for an extended period would be a major blow for Chicago. The 24-year-old was the team’s top pitcher last season and is expected to play a key role in their push for contention in 2026. Without him, those aspirations would take a significant hit.
There is also growing concern about the possibility of Tommy John surgery, which would be the second major operation of Horton’s young career and could impact his long-term trajectory.
