Brandon Ingram Sets Franchise Record in Raptors’ Win Over Heat
On Thursday night in Canada, the Toronto Raptors hosted the Miami Heat and came away with a 128–114 victory.
Brandon Ingram delivered a standout performance, scoring 38 points along with seven rebounds, seven assists, and one steal. He shot 13-of-23 from the field and 2-of-3 from beyond the arc in 37 minutes.
Ingram makes Raptors history
Beyond his impressive stat line, Ingram also etched his name into the franchise record books. According to Real App, he now holds the record for the most total points scored by a player in their first season with Toronto.
So far this season, Ingram is averaging 21.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game while shooting 47.4% overall and 38.2% from three across 75 appearances.
He was acquired by Toronto via a trade from the New Orleans Pelicans during the previous season.
NBA career overview
Drafted second overall in 2016 after one season at Duke, Ingram began his NBA career with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he spent three seasons.
He was then traded to the New Orleans Pelicans in 2019, where he spent parts of five seasons and developed into a two-time All-Star.
Across his career, he has averaged 19.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.2 assists while shooting 46.9% from the field and 36.6% from three-point range in 569 games.
Raptors season outlook
With the win over Miami, Toronto improved to 45–35 and currently sits fifth in the Eastern Conference. The team is on a two-game winning streak and has gone 6–4 over its last ten games.
After facing Miami, the Raptors will close the regular season with matchups against the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets.
Toronto, which won the 2019 NBA championship and last reached the playoffs in 2022, is aiming for a strong postseason push this year with hopes of advancing deep into the Eastern Conference.
