Mobile (Ala.) Williamson four-star linebacker Ellis McGaskin is back in Baton Rouge on Saturday for an unofficial visit as LSU Tigers football continues its strong push in his recruitment.
McGaskin is ranked as the No. 30 linebacker in the 2027 recruiting class, with multiple major programs still heavily involved after he previously decommitted from the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football.
The 5-foot-11, 210-pound defender has collected offers from several top programs, including LSU, Notre Dame, Georgia Bulldogs football, Florida State Seminoles football, and Auburn Tigers football, among others, as his recruitment continues to heat up.
More recently, the Alabama Crimson Tide football entered the mix with an offer, and LSU quickly responded by bringing him back to campus just days later. Head coach Lane Kiffin and his staff are working to make a strong impression as McGaskin takes in spring practice in Death Valley.
McGaskin first made a name for himself as a freshman in 2023, posting 142 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, and two forced fumbles while earning all-state honors early in his varsity career.
His production only continued to climb into his sophomore season.
McGaskin again topped 100 tackles, finishing with 130 total stops, including 21 tackles for loss, four sacks, and three forced fumbles.
After three straight dominant seasons at the high school level, evaluators are increasingly intrigued by his upside at the next stage.
“He diagnoses plays so fast that it allows him to play faster,” McGaskin’s defensive coordinator told Rivals last year. “He’s really fun to watch. His first step is so quick that once he sees a gap, it usually turns into a tackle for loss.
“There are times he just levels guys because he’s arriving so quickly. His instincts, quick trigger, and ability to process plays are what make him an elite linebacker.”
Sources told LSU Tigers On SI that the LSU Tigers football are gaining momentum in his recruitment, with the staff ramping up their push during this weekend’s visit.
Now, attention turns back to McGaskin, a top-30 linebacker nationally, as he continues his unofficial visit in Baton Rouge on Saturday.
