Syracuse secures commitment from 2027 New York RB Xavier Bala
Syracuse has added to its 2027 recruiting class with a commitment from running back Xavier Bala, a three-star prospect out of St. Anthony’s in Melville, New York. His decision was confirmed by his agent, Ken Douglas of JL Sports, and initially reported by 247Sports.
Bala picked the Syracuse Orange football over other finalists including Virginia, Wake Forest, and Boston College. He becomes the 11th pledge in Syracuse’s 2027 class, which currently sits around No. 25 nationally, and is ranked as the No. 3 prospect in New York.
He last visited campus in March during spring practices, where he had in-depth conversations with the coaching staff about both his potential role on the field and his personal development. Head coach Fran Brown and his staff emphasized not only football growth but also life beyond the game, which left a strong impression on Bala.
The running back is set to return for an official visit on June 12. He had previously been on campus in October when Syracuse hosted Duke, using the trip to further strengthen relationships with the coaching staff, including Brown and assistant running backs coach Devin Redd.
On the field, Bala is coming off an impressive junior season, rushing for 1,411 yards and 26 touchdowns while adding 82 receiving yards on 10 catches. He sees himself as a versatile, every-down back at the next level, describing his style as elusive, physical, and explosive, with a focus on dominating each play.
