Colorado offers versatile two-way prospect from Florida
The Colorado Buffaloes football made a notable addition to their recruiting board Thursday by extending an offer to Turmarian Moreland Jr., a three-star athlete out of Florida known for his ability to contribute on both offense and defense.
Moreland, who plays for Palm Beach Lakes in West Palm Beach, has been productive at both wide receiver and safety over the past two seasons. Standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 190 pounds, he’s totaled 643 receiving yards and five touchdowns on 51 catches, while also making an impact defensively with 47 tackles, nine pass breakups, and two interceptions.
His versatility has drawn comparisons to former Colorado star Travis Hunter—though Moreland isn’t as highly touted, he’s shown the potential to handle a two-way role at the next level. He’s currently ranked as a three-star recruit and sits among the top prospects in Florida for the 2027 class.
Landing Moreland won’t be easy, however. Head coach Deion Sanders and his staff are competing with several major programs for his commitment. Moreland has official visits scheduled with Virginia Tech, Auburn, and Georgia, with Auburn currently viewed as a slight favorite in his recruitment.
One potential advantage for Colorado could be its willingness to let him play both sides of the ball, something the program has embraced in recent years. Whether that becomes a reality may depend on Moreland’s senior season, as coaches will want to see further development before committing to using him in a full-time two-way role.
While matching the kind of high school production that made Hunter a standout recruit would be a tall order, continued growth—especially increased offensive output and consistent defensive playmaking—could position Moreland to take on a similar dual role in college.
