Michigan State Lines Up Official Visit With In-State Prospect Drew Aagesen
Michigan State is continuing to strengthen its recruiting presence within the state borders, this time targeting a promising trench prospect in the 2027 class.
Just over a week after extending an offer to Goodrich (Mich.) standout Drew Aagesen, the Spartans have already secured an official visit with the three-star recruit. Aagesen is scheduled to be in East Lansing from June 5-7.
While recruiting services such as 247Sports and Rivals currently list Aagesen as a defensive lineman, Michigan State appears to envision him on the offensive side of the ball. Spartans offensive line coach Nick Tabacca recently visited Aagesen at his home, signaling serious interest in developing him as an offensive tackle.
At 6-foot-5 and 275 pounds, Aagesen already possesses the frame colleges covet for the offensive line. His current ranking on the 247Sports Composite — No. 1,096 nationally and 21st in Michigan — reflects evaluations as a defensive lineman, so his projection could look very different if he fully transitions to offense.
Michigan State is far from the only Power Four program pursuing him. Aagesen has additional official visits lined up with Iowa State, Virginia, and Pitt, while also holding offers from schools such as Boston College, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
The Spartans, however, may have an edge in familiarity. Aagesen has already visited campus multiple times, including an unofficial trip during Michigan State’s bye week last season and another stop in April. By locking in an official visit early, MSU is positioning itself well in the race to keep another talented in-state lineman home.
The pursuit also fits a larger recruiting strategy for the Spartans, who appear focused on building a strong offensive line foundation in the 2027 cycle.
Michigan State already holds commitments from two notable in-state offensive linemen: Brighton tackle Jack Carlson and East Grand Rapids interior lineman Grant Adloff. Carlson currently ranks as the program’s second-highest-rated pledge in the class, while Adloff is close behind among Michigan prospects.
The emphasis on offensive line recruiting makes sense considering the roster outlook. Several projected starters — including Ben Murawski, Nick Sharpe, Trent Fraley, and Conner Moore — are entering their final seasons of eligibility. Veteran lineman Luka Vincic could potentially return with a medical waiver, but significant turnover up front is expected in the near future.
Adding a prospect like Aagesen would help Michigan State continue rebuilding long-term depth and stability in the trenches.
