Bucks Reportedly Want Myles Turner Included in Any Giannis Trade Scenario
The Milwaukee Bucks appear to be preparing for a potential franchise reset, and a new report suggests they have an additional demand in any trade involving superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Following a disappointing end to the season and growing uncertainty surrounding Antetokounmpo’s long-term future, Milwaukee is reportedly considering trade structures that would not only move Giannis but also send center Myles Turner elsewhere as part of a larger deal.
According to Bucks insider Gery Woelfel, Milwaukee has explored the possibility of packaging Antetokounmpo and Turner in a multi-team transaction. While the idea of both players remaining together on a new team seems unlikely, the report indicates the Bucks would prefer to use a complex trade framework that allows them to move both contracts and accelerate a rebuild.
Why Milwaukee May Be Looking to Move Turner
Turner arrived in Milwaukee as a marquee offseason addition after the Bucks aggressively reshaped their roster in an effort to keep Antetokounmpo satisfied and competitive. His signing followed the injury-related absence of Damian Lillard, which prompted the organization to create salary-cap flexibility.
Coming off a successful stint with the Indiana Pacers, including a run to the 2025 NBA Finals, Turner was expected to strengthen Milwaukee’s frontcourt. However, his role expanded significantly whenever Antetokounmpo missed time, and the results reportedly fell short of expectations.
If the Bucks ultimately move on from Giannis, the franchise would likely pivot toward acquiring younger players, draft capital, and long-term assets. Turner’s age, salary, and win-now profile may not align with that rebuilding timeline, making him a logical trade candidate.
Multi-Team Trade Could Be Necessary
A deal involving Antetokounmpo is already expected to be one of the most complicated transactions in recent NBA history. Reports have suggested that interested teams are exploring three-team and even four-team structures to make the finances and asset exchanges work.
Including Turner would make those negotiations even more complex. Many teams pursuing Giannis may not have the cap flexibility to absorb both contracts, increasing the likelihood that a third franchise would be needed to take on Turner.
Such an arrangement could benefit Milwaukee by clearing significant salary commitments while maximizing the return for Antetokounmpo. It would also allow the acquiring team to focus its outgoing assets primarily on landing the two-time MVP rather than matching Turner’s contract as well.
