Blue-Chip EDGE Prospect Picks SEC Power Over Florida State
Florida State has enjoyed a productive stretch on the recruiting trail, securing commitments from several highly regarded prospects over the past week, including four-star wide receiver Sean Green, four-star running back Jayden Miles, and four-star linebacker Jernard Albright. However, the Seminoles suffered a setback on Friday when one of their top remaining targets chose another destination.
Jabarrius Garror Commits to Texas
Four-star defensive end Jabarrius Garror announced his commitment to University of Texas, selecting the Longhorns over Florida State, Georgia, and Auburn.
Garror took official visits to Texas, Georgia, and Auburn before making his decision. Although he had planned to visit Tallahassee later this month, that trip is no longer expected to take place. Given that he never made a final visit to Florida State before committing, the outcome wasn’t entirely unexpected.
Seminoles Must Adjust Recruiting Plans
Despite the anticipated nature of the decision, Garror represented one of the highest-ranked prospects still under consideration by Florida State. The Seminoles’ coaching staff will now need to explore other options to complement current four-star defensive end pledge Anthony Cavallaro.
Garror last visited Florida State in March and was also on campus for the Seminoles’ victory over Alabama during the 2026 season.
Elite Production and Strong Rankings
The standout defender put together an impressive junior campaign at Vigor High School, recording 106 tackles, 32.5 tackles for loss, 21 sacks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and two pass breakups. He posted double-digit tackle totals in four games and delivered one of his best performances with 13 tackles, two tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks in a win over UMS-Wright Preparatory School.
The 6-foot-2.5, 215-pound pass rusher is ranked as the No. 106 overall prospect nationally, the No. 12 EDGE recruit, and the No. 4 player in Alabama for the 2027 class.
What’s Next for Florida State?
With Garror no longer available, Florida State is expected to focus its attention on other defensive line targets, including four-star prospect Abraham Sesay, along with three-star recruits T.K. Cunningham and Jaxon Holley.
Sesay is currently trending toward University of Notre Dame, while Cunningham recently completed an official visit to Florida State. Holley is scheduled to visit campus this weekend as the Seminoles continue searching for additions to their 2027 recruiting class.
