Virginia Tech Lands 2027 Three-Star Safety Turmarian Moreland
Virginia Tech added another piece to its 2027 recruiting class on Friday with a commitment from three-star defensive back Turmarian Moreland. The pledge gives the Hokies their 24th commitment in the cycle.
Moreland, a standout prospect from Palm Beach Lakes High School in West Palm Beach, Florida, selected Virginia Tech over several major programs, including Auburn, Georgia, and Louisville.
Although listed as an athlete by recruiting services, Moreland is projected to play safety at the collegiate level. Safeties coach Anthony Midget played a key role in his recruitment, helping Virginia Tech secure the commitment over SEC competition. Moreland took an official visit to Blacksburg in late May and later visited Auburn, but ultimately chose the Hokies. He was also scheduled to visit Georgia before canceling the trip.
Standing 6-foot-1 and weighing 198 pounds, Moreland showcased his versatility during his junior season by contributing on both sides of the ball. Defensively, he recorded 45 tackles, two tackles for loss, and seven pass breakups. On offense, he added 10 receptions for 87 yards.
Recruiting services view Moreland as one of Florida’s notable prospects in the 2027 class. He is widely rated as a three-star recruit and is ranked among the top athletes in the state. The 247Sports Composite places him among the top 600 overall players nationally while also ranking him among Florida’s top prospects.
With Moreland now on board, Virginia Tech continues to build momentum in a 2027 recruiting class that is gaining national attention and strengthening the program’s future defensive outlook.
