Fran Brown goes back to Georgia for this DB
Syracuse football’s recruiting efforts have seen mixed results over the past few weeks, but the Orange received a positive boost on Tuesday with the commitment of Georgia safety Jalen Welch.
The 6-foot-2.5, 190-pound Welch held additional scholarship offers from programs such as Boston College, West Virginia, and Iowa State, among others. In the 247Sports rankings, he is listed as the No. 38 safety nationally, while Rivals places him at No. 36 at the position. Both recruiting services also rank him as the No. 52 player in the state of Georgia.
Welch’s stock is worth monitoring, as he sits just outside four-star status and appears to be highly regarded by the Syracuse coaching staff.
Syracuse’s recruiting class is currently ranked No. 37 nationally by 247Sports and No. 49 according to Rivals.
