Razorbacks Add Two Commitments to 2027 Recruiting Class
Arkansas has strengthened its 2027 recruiting class with the additions of a four-star offensive lineman and a three-star defensive back, helping the program climb in the national recruiting rankings.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Arkansas Razorbacks ended a recent slump on the recruiting trail by securing a commitment from four-star offensive lineman Alijah Shaw of Leawood, Kansas.
At 6-foot-9 and 290 pounds, Shaw is an unusual but highly intriguing prospect, combining rare size with athletic ability and long-term upside. He is part of Arkansas’ first full recruiting cycle under head coach Ryan Silverfield and is expected to be a key piece for the future offensive line.
Wisconsin, coached by former Arkansas assistant Eric Mateos, was considered Arkansas’ strongest competitor for Shaw, who also held offers from programs including Boston College, Iowa State, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, Northwestern, Minnesota, Florida Atlantic, and UMass.
Arkansas first extended a scholarship offer to Shaw in December 2025, and he later took an official visit to Fayetteville in May.
According to 247Sports, Shaw is ranked No. 269 nationally, No. 31 among offensive tackles, and No. 2 in the state of Kansas heading into his senior season.
Defensive Back Commitment
The Razorbacks also added three-star cornerback Kevin Grant from Arlington, Texas. Grant chose Arkansas over several Group of Five programs.
A versatile athlete at Martin High School, he recorded 24 tackles, three interceptions, and a blocked kick on defense while also contributing offensively with 10 receptions for 113 yards and a touchdown, along with 41 rushing yards on six carries.
Grant, who also competes in track and field, has posted notable marks including a 46-foot-10 triple jump, a 6-foot-4 high jump, and a 21.62-second 200-meter time.
247Sports ranks him as the No. 472 overall prospect nationally, the No. 44 cornerback in the class, and the No. 61 player in Texas.
Recruiting Outlook
With Shaw’s commitment, Arkansas moved up more than 10 spots in the rankings. The 2027 class now includes 18 total commitments, placing the Razorbacks No. 10 in the SEC and No. 35 nationally, ahead of programs such as Missouri, Tennessee, Indiana, and Alabama.
With Shaw and fellow offensive tackle Odaefe Oruru in the fold, Arkansas has begun building what could become a strong future foundation at offensive tackle.
The Razorbacks may not be finished adding talent soon, as four-star wide receiver Alvin Mosley is scheduled for an official visit this weekend. The top-150 national prospect is expected to announce his decision on June 27, choosing between Arkansas, Texas, Houston, and Ole Miss.
Other upcoming visitors include three-star linebacker Bryce Breeden and JUCO offensive lineman Zavian Chones-Ashmore.
