USC Targets Elite Mississippi Running Back in Early 2028 Recruiting Push
The USC Trojans are making an aggressive move in the South as they pursue one of the nation’s most promising young running backs in the 2028 recruiting class. Four-star standout Zaiden Jernigan of Louisville, Mississippi, recently received a scholarship offer from USC, adding another major program to his rapidly growing list of opportunities.
Jernigan announced the offer on social media, noting that head coach Lincoln Riley, running backs coach Anthony Jones, and assistant general manager Dre Brown were involved in extending the invitation. The talented running back has already attracted nearly 25 scholarship offers and is emerging as one of the most sought-after prospects in his class.
The 5-foot-11, 200-pound playmaker made an immediate impact as a freshman, surpassing 2,000 all-purpose yards and scoring 30 total touchdowns. Known for his explosive acceleration, breakaway speed, and ability to make defenders miss in open space, Jernigan has earned recognition as one of Mississippi’s top young talents.
USC faces significant competition for his commitment, with programs such as Indiana, Auburn, North Carolina, and South Carolina already in pursuit.
