Arkansas Among Final Eight Schools for Five-Star 2027 Forward Demarcus Henry
Arkansas remains firmly in the mix for one of the nation’s premier basketball prospects, as five-star small forward Demarcus Henry has narrowed his recruitment to eight finalists.
The 2027 standout announced on his YouTube channel that he has trimmed his list of 29 scholarship offers to Arkansas, BYU, UConn, Louisville, Ohio State, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Kansas, giving Razorbacks head coach John Calipari another opportunity to land an elite recruit.
Henry, a 6-foot-8, 200-pound wing from Compass Prep in Chandler, Arizona, is widely regarded as the top small forward in the 2027 recruiting class. He is also the younger brother of Ohio State freshman wide receiver Chris Henry Jr., while his father, the late Chris Henry Sr., played in the NFL for the Cincinnati Bengals.
Recruitment Continues to Heat Up
Arkansas extended an offer to Henry in May after he delivered an impressive 25-point performance during Nike EYBL Session II in Memphis.
As a junior at Compass Prep, Henry averaged more than 16 points, 13 rebounds, three blocks, two assists, and one steal per game, showcasing the versatility that has made him one of the country’s fastest-rising prospects.
Speaking about his recruitment, Henry expressed gratitude for the opportunities he has received throughout the process.
“My recruiting journey is going great,” Henry said. “I’ve prayed for this opportunity, so I’m just grateful. Having 29 offers is something I never imagined. My dream was simply to earn one scholarship and have the chance to play college basketball.”
Henry also thanked every coaching staff that recruited him, saying he appreciates the belief they have shown in his abilities and understands that narrowing his list is simply part of the process.
Before reducing his finalists, Henry also received offers from Gonzaga, Stanford, Texas A&M, Washington, Vanderbilt, USC, Oklahoma State, LSU, Oregon, and numerous other programs.
One of the Nation’s Top Prospects
Henry’s recruiting stock has soared throughout the spring and summer. He earned First Team honors at the NBPA Top 100 Camp after leading the event with 20 points per game while averaging nearly 10 rebounds.
He also represented the United States on the U18 national team, helping Team USA capture a silver medal.
According to the Rivals Industry Comparison rankings, Henry is currently rated as the No. 5 overall prospect nationally, the No. 1 small forward in the 2027 class, and the No. 2 player in Arizona.
Arkansas Building for the Future
Henry is one of 11 prospects in the 2027 class to receive an offer from Arkansas as Calipari continues assembling an impressive recruiting board.
The Razorbacks have also targeted several of the nation’s top-ranked recruits, including No. 1 overall prospect Marcus Spears Jr., No. 2 Beckham Black, No. 3 CJ Rosser, No. 7 Lewis Uvwo, No. 8 King Gibson, No. 21 Davion Thompson, who is already committed to Arkansas, No. 27 Anderson Diaz, No. 32 Devin Cleveland, No. 42 Tyrone Jamison, and No. 55 Caleb Ourigou.
With Henry now down to eight schools, Arkansas remains well positioned as it looks to secure another elite addition to its future roster under Calipari.
