Rockets eye Trent Jr., DeRozan to boost scoring depth

The Houston Rockets are reportedly exploring veteran scoring options, with Gary Trent Jr. and DeMar DeRozan emerging as potential targets to strengthen the roster around Kevin Durant and Alperen Sengun.

Trent would provide the Rockets with another reliable perimeter shooter, adding floor spacing and three-point production to an offense looking for more consistency. DeRozan, meanwhile, offers a proven midrange scorer who can create his own shot and ease the offensive burden on Houston’s stars during key stretches.

A major factor in Houston’s interest is financial flexibility. Both veterans could be attainable on team-friendly contracts, allowing the Rockets to improve their depth without compromising future salary cap plans.

The Rockets are motivated to upgrade after a promising 52-win campaign ended with a disappointing first-round playoff exit. Adding experienced scorers who can contribute immediately is viewed as a priority as the franchise looks to take the next step in the Western Conference.
