Rangers Reportedly Reject All Trade Interest in Adam Fox
The New York Rangers have been active this offseason, adding winger Pavel Dorofeyev and signing him to a long-term extension while also trading veteran center Vincent Trocheck to the Utah Mammoth. However, one player the organization has no intention of moving is star defenseman Adam Fox.
According to Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman, multiple teams have contacted the Rangers to inquire about Fox’s availability. General manager Chris Drury reportedly shut down every conversation immediately, making it clear that New York is not entertaining offers for the former Norris Trophy winner.
Speculation surfaced earlier this year that Fox may have been frustrated after being left off Team USA’s roster for the 2026 Winter Olympics, a team assembled in part by Drury and Rangers head coach Mike Sullivan. Despite those rumors, there appears to be no indication the organization is willing to consider trading one of its franchise cornerstones.
Fox remains one of New York’s most valuable players alongside goaltender Igor Shesterkin. Despite missing time with injury last season, the 28-year-old recorded 52 points in 55 games after producing at least 70 points in three of the previous four campaigns.
Signed through the next three seasons with a $9.5 million average annual value, Fox continues to be a central piece of the Rangers’ long-term plans.
Although New York is coming off a disappointing last-place finish in the Eastern Conference and has parted ways with key veterans like Trocheck and Artemi Panarin, the front office has retooled rather than embraced a rebuild. The additions of Dorofeyev and defenseman Sean Durzi have reshaped the roster, but Drury’s refusal to discuss Fox underscores the organization’s belief that it can remain competitive.
By keeping Fox off the trade market, the Rangers are signaling that they still view themselves as a team capable of contending rather than starting over.
