Panthers Could Target Dylan Larkin to Strengthen Center Depth
After a disappointing 2025-26 season, the Florida Panthers are expected to explore ways to reinforce their roster, with improving depth at center likely to be a top priority. One player who could emerge as an intriguing trade target is Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin.
Larkin’s future in Detroit has become the subject of speculation, and reports suggest Florida is among the limited number of teams he would consider waiving his no-trade clause for. If the Red Wings decide to move their longtime captain, the Panthers could be in a strong position to negotiate a deal without facing an overwhelming bidding war.
Larkin Would Fill a Major Need
Florida’s lack of center depth became a glaring issue last season after captain Aleksander Barkov suffered a serious knee injury before the campaign began, forcing him to miss the entire year. Without their top-line center, the Panthers struggled to maintain the balance that had made them one of the league’s top contenders.
Adding a player like Larkin would help address that weakness immediately. Known for his two-way play, offensive production, and ability to handle heavy minutes in every situation, the 29-year-old could provide both insurance and another top-line caliber option down the middle.

A potential offer could center around young forward Anton Lundell, who showed he is capable of taking on a larger role while filling in during Barkov’s absence.
