Duke Adds Intriguing 4-Star Prospect to 2027 Recruiting Picture

The Duke basketball program continues to expand its recruiting efforts for the 2027 class as head coach Jon Scheyer works to assemble another highly regarded group of incoming talent.

The Blue Devils have now arranged an official visit with 4-star forward Deng Ngor, giving Duke another opportunity to evaluate one of the more intriguing prospects in the class.

Duke Sets Official Visit With Deng Ngor

Duke has scheduled an official visit with Ngor for Oct. 15. The 6-foot-8, 200-pound forward plays for Fort Erie International Academy in Ontario.

According to the 247Sports 2027 Composite Rankings, Ngor is currently rated No. 80 nationally, No. 12 among power forwards, and No. 1 overall in Ontario.

His recruitment has picked up considerable momentum in recent weeks. Ngor has received offers from several high-level programs this summer, including Florida, South Carolina, Butler, Virginia, Auburn, Marquette, and Washington.

While Duke has arranged an official visit, the Blue Devils had not formally offered Ngor at the time of publication.

Ngor also has official visits scheduled with Ohio State, Washington, and Florida, giving him several opportunities to explore prominent college basketball programs.

Ngor Makes an Impact for Team Canada

Ngor gained additional exposure this summer while representing Canada at the FIBA U18 AmeriCup in León, Mexico.

He helped Canada defeat Team USA in the championship game and produced solid numbers throughout the tournament. In five appearances, Ngor averaged 10.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 50% from the field and 37.5% from three-point range.

He played just under 20 minutes per contest and saved one of his strongest performances for the championship, scoring 15 points while recording three steals against the Americans.

His combination of size, perimeter shooting, and passing ability makes Ngor an intriguing option for Duke as the Blue Devils continue shaping their 2027 class.

Where Duke Stands in the 2027 Class

Duke has yet to officially offer Ngor, but the scheduled visit indicates that the program is taking a closer look at the Canadian prospect.

The Blue Devils have already extended offers to several 5-star recruits, including Adan Diggs, Beckham Black, Lewis Uvwo, and AJ Williams. Five-star wing Kager Knueppel is currently Duke’s lone commitment in the 2027 class.

Ngor could provide a different skill set as a versatile forward who has the potential to contribute both inside and on the perimeter.

Duke’s approach to the 2027 class is particularly interesting because of the NCAA’s new age-based eligibility rules. The changes could influence how Scheyer handles the guard rotation, particularly with Black, Diggs, and Williams in the mix.

The Blue Devils must also monitor the futures of current seniors Caleb Foster and John Blackwell. Under the new “5-in-5” eligibility structure, both players could potentially return for the 2027-28 season.

Williams’ situation is also unique. He was previously the No. 1 prospect in the 2028 class before reclassifying to enter college a year earlier. Unlike Marcus Spears Jr.’s situation, Williams remains age-eligible for the 2028 NBA Draft, meaning he could potentially spend only one season in college before entering the draft.

With those variables still unresolved, Duke’s recruitment of players such as Ngor could become increasingly important as Scheyer builds the 2027 roster.
