Caitlin Clark, Stephanie White Praise Fever’s Makayla Timpson
Makayla Timpson has quickly become one of the Indiana Fever’s most dependable complementary players, earning strong praise from both Caitlin Clark and head coach Stephanie White.

Since being moved into the starting lineup, Timpson has emerged as a valuable piece for Indiana. The second-year forward does not need frequent touches to make an impact, allowing her to fit seamlessly alongside the Fever’s core of Clark, Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston.
However, when her number is called, Timpson has shown that she can take advantage of the opportunity.
She delivered the best performance of her season during Indiana’s overtime victory over the Atlanta Dream on Sunday. Timpson scored a career-high 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting, including six points in overtime, while also grabbing seven rebounds.
Speaking to the Indianapolis Star’s Chloe Peterson, Clark praised Timpson’s dedication to improving and her eagerness to learn. Clark described her teammate as someone who is “very curious” and constantly looking for ways to get better.
“She’s always in the gym getting better. She just has that mentality that she wants to serve her teammates, and that’s the best thing you can have as a young player, and it’s really showing. I think she’s really just scratching the surface,” Clark said.
White has been equally impressed with the progress Timpson has made since the Fever selected her with the No. 19 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft.
“The versatility, the way she can guard, the way the game has slowed down for her, the way that she has just dug into her role, and how much more comfortable she feels on the floor because she did the work,” White said.
Timpson is averaging 4.9 points and 4.4 rebounds in 17.9 minutes per game this season. While her statistics may not jump off the page, her energy, defensive versatility and willingness to contribute in different ways have helped her earn an increasingly important role.
At just 23 years old, Timpson appears to be gaining confidence at the right time. If her recent development continues, she could become an even more valuable piece of the Fever’s rotation as the season progresses.
Indiana will be back in action Tuesday against the Toronto Tempo.
