SEATTLE — The Seattle Mariners are preparing to call up left-handed pitching prospect Kade Anderson for Saturday’s matchup with the Chicago Cubs.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan was the first to report the news Thursday.

Anderson enters the organization as widely regarded as the top pitching prospect in baseball. The 22-year-old lefty was selected third overall by Seattle in the 2025 MLB Draft out of LSU.

Through 18 starts with Double-A Arkansas, Anderson has dominated, posting a 1.06 ERA across 93.1 innings. He has recorded 135 strikeouts while issuing just 13 walks and allowing 47 hits.

Anderson is joining the Mariners’ pitching staff at a critical point in the season. Seattle currently sits eight games under .500 and is trying to stay alive in the playoff race. The Mariners are also coming off the worst defeat in franchise history, suffering a stunning 22-0 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday.

According to reports, Anderson is expected to make his first start Saturday when Seattle hosts the Chicago Cubs. First pitch is scheduled for 4:15 p.m., with the game available to watch on FOX 13 Seattle and the FOX One app.
