Washington Football Enters Regular Season Without Major Injury Concerns
The Washington Huskies wrapped up their 2026 training camp Saturday with a mock game at Husky Stadium. The evening gave fans a chance to enjoy the final days of summer, hear from head coach Jedd Fisch, and get an early glimpse of the team before the regular season begins.

While several players delivered impressive performances and highlighted the talent across the roster, the most encouraging development had little to do with what happened on the field. Washington emerged from camp in strong health, putting the team in an excellent position heading into its season opener against Washington State in the Apple Cup.
“Glad we got through camp pretty healthy, really healthy, I think,” Fisch told reporters after the scrimmage. “We’re getting everyone back at the right time, so [we] should have everyone back, or close to it, starting for practice on Sunday.”
Washington did avoid any significant injuries during camp, although several important players have dealt with limitations recently. Center Landen Hatchett, cornerback Dylan Robinson, and right guard Champ Taulealea have all been held back from being full participants during the past couple of weeks. Fisch, however, expects each of them to return to practice as soon as next week.
That is welcome news for a Washington program that has dealt with its share of injury problems in recent seasons. Heading into the 2025 campaign, players such as outside linebacker Zach Durfree, cornerback Tacario Davis, and wide receivers Omari Evans and Rashid Williams were among those who missed time because of injuries.
The Huskies arguably have more depth at several important positions this season than at any point during Fisch’s tenure. Even so, the coaching staff would much rather have that depth serve as insurance than be forced into action because of injuries before the season even begins.
With Apple Cup week approaching, Washington appears to be on track to have nearly its entire roster available for the rivalry matchup against Washington State on Sunday, September 6, at Husky Stadium.
For a team with high expectations entering the season, simply getting through camp healthy could prove to be one of its biggest victories.
After all, availability is often the most valuable ability in football.
