Virginia Football: Three-Star 6’1″, 190-pound Picks UVA Over 10+ Power 4 Programs

Virginia football achieved a major win in recruiting when three-star athlete Corey Costner confirmed his commitment to the Cavaliers on Saturday, choosing them over offers from numerous Power Five football programs such as Notre Dame, Indiana, North Carolina, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Michigan State, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Wake Forest, Minnesota, Duke, and Boston College.

Standing at 6’1″ and weighing 190 pounds, Corey Costner is a versatile athlete from Perry Hall High School in Baltimore. According to the 247Sports Composite, he is ranked as the No. 31 athlete in the class of 2025, and is also considered the No. 14 recruit in Maryland and the No. 497 prospect overall in the nation.

During the spring, Costner visited several schools including Penn State, Pittsburgh, Wake Forest, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Virginia, and Indiana. His recruitment appeared to have come down to a choice between Indiana and UVA, with the Hoos ultimately winning over the Hoosiers to secure his commitment.

Costner has shown his prowess on both offense and defense, excelling as a wide receiver and a defensive back. His outstanding performance on the field earned him an All-State selection as a defensive back, and you can view some of his junior season highlights by clicking the link below.
