Texas Tech picked up a commitment from 2025 receiver, who was originally pledged to Colorado State.

Texas Tech secured a commitment from Michael Dever, a wide receiver from the class of 2025, who revealed his decision on social media on Thursday. He switched his commitment from Colorado State to the Red Raiders. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound unranked prospect from Lubbock Cooper High School opted to remain local and join Texas Tech, turning down reported offers from Colorado State, North Texas, and Texas State.

Dever, who changed his commitment just a day after Isaiah Robertson switched to SMU, had an impressive performance last season at Lubbock Cooper, catching 40 passes for 672 yards and scoring 11 touchdowns. Additionally, he achieved a sixth-place finish at the state meet in the high jump with a height of 6-foot-2.

As the fourth receiver on Texas Tech’s commitment list for the 2025 recruiting cycle, Dever joins Tristian Gentry from Stephenville (TX), Bryson Jones from Frisco (TX) Lone Star, and Leyton Stone, another talented local wideout from Wolfforth (TX) Frenship. He is the 17th overall pledge for the class, which currently holds the 40th spot in the nation and is ranked fifth in the Big 12.

Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire mentioned in an interview that they are aiming to recruit somewhere between 18 and 20 high school players for the 2025 class. This strategy is part of their plan to build a more balanced roster, with a focus on developing players who are in their third or fourth year of college, especially on the offensive and defensive lines.
