UCLA’S OFFICIAL RELEASE:

Corey Miller has been appointed as the head football performance coach for UCLA, as announced by head coach DeShaun Foster on Tuesday. Miller brings nine years of experience in football strength and conditioning, transitioning into this field after concluding his own playing career.

This marks a comeback to UCLA for Miller, who previously served as the Bruins’ director of speed and movement from February 2022 to June 2023 before joining the National Football League. He spent the last year as the assistant director of strength and conditioning for the NFL’s Carolina Panthers.

Foster expressed his admiration for Coach Miller’s ability to maximize players’ potential during his previous tenure with the program. With his additional experience in the NFL, Foster believes that Miller is exceptionally equipped to maintain the team’s standards while preparing the Bruins for Big Ten Conference competition and beyond.

During his time with the Panthers, Miller developed training plans for offensive and defensive linemen and also contributed to their recovery and Return to Play programs. In 2022, he gained his first NFL experience with the Los Angeles Rams during training camp under the league’s Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship.

During his earlier stint at UCLA, Miller devised speed and weight training regimens for offensive linemen, defensive linemen, and large skill-position athletes. He was also involved in generating and assessing sports science data and led the Return to Play initiatives.

In 2021, Miller was promoted to director of football sports performance at Ole Miss for his second season with the Rebels, overseeing all position players. From 2017 to 2019, he worked as an assistant on the South Carolina strength and conditioning staff. While in the Southeastern Conference, Miller contributed to four bowl appearances under head coaches Lane Kiffin and Will Muschamp.

At D1 Training in Knoxville, Tenn., Miller began his career in football performance. As head strength and conditioning coach, he conducted individual training sessions with clients of various ages, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of rest and recovery techniques and coaching methods among his colleagues.

Miller had a notable collegiate football career at the University of Tennessee from 2010 to 2013, appearing in 49 games. In his final game as a Volunteer, a 27-14 win at Kentucky, Miller amassed a school-record 4.5 sacks, earning him national recognition as player of the week. After graduating with a degree in sociology, he played one season for the Lazio Marines in Rome in the Italian Football League.

In 2023, Miller obtained a master’s degree in sports psychology from California University of Pennsylvania. He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
